The Holy Month of Ramadan will start according to astronomic calculations, on Aug 11, said astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun on Saturday.
Al-Saadoun told KUNA that the crescent for Ramadan will be formed on Aug 10, Tuesday, at 6:01 am making Wednesday the first day of the Holy Month in Kuwait.
Though the crescent might not be visible on Tuesday evening, Wednesday evening would be a different matter, stated Al-Saadoun.
However, the astronomer noted that the exact date is a matter of huge debate amongst Muslims worldwide.
The Holy Month of Ramadan is an annual occasion where Muslims around the world fast from dawn till dusk, refraining from food, water, and sexual relations. Muslims also perform extra prayers during this month in addition to other duties.
